MEET THE ARTIST

Inspired by Water, Twilight & Place

Suzette Morganelli is known for her waterscapes and Lake Murray sunsets. Using the rich colors of twilight as a painter's palette, she creates tranquil compositions filled with the changing hues of evening light over water.

She began her photography career in 2000, inspired by her lifelong love of the water and by growing up around Lake Murray.

THE STORY BEHIND THE IMAGE

Summer Hues

Encouraged by a friend in the art world, Suzette created her first open-edition giclée print, Summer Hues. The photograph was taken in July 2003 near the tip of Shull Island in Gilbert, South Carolina, as the midsummer sun began its evening decline.

Lake Murray was experiencing a historic drawdown during reconstruction of the dam, making the scene a distinctive record of the lake's history.
